Prahran-Assumption Football Club
Assumption Old Collegians Footy is well and truly alive! WELCOME to Prahran Assumption Football Club’s 2012 season.
No doubt as an Assumption Old Collegian you were pleased to see the old school colours triumph again on the football field in 2011, this time as unbeaten premier Prahran Assumption Football Club in the VAFA. Season 2012 in Division 2 promises to be just as exciting.
WE NEED YOU TO BECOME A MEMBER PLEASE!
Funding a successful amateur football club is always a challenge, more so if you aspire to give the players and coaching staff the best possible facilities and continued success as we aspire to do.
We urge you to join/rejoin our club as a member in 2012 - a social member costs a mere $40 (100 members at $40 is $4000). Even better we would love to welcome you as a sponsor! To do either just complete the enclosed/attached form and please provide us with your latest contact details by mail or email to pfsclub@bigpond.net.au.
Flag Unfurling Luncheon – 21st April 2012
An early season highlight promises to be the unfurling of the 2011 premiership pennant at our Round 1 match on April 21 at Toorak Park. Join us for a pre game luncheon before watching the flag ceremony and then our first game for the season.
Club Website
Please visit our club’s website www.prahranfootball.org.,au which is being revamped and will soon provide one of the most user friendly and informative sites in the VAFA.
We urge you to follow the fortunes of the team and support our sponsors, many of whom are former Assumption Collegians.
Insight into our club
The Assumption Old Collegians fielded a team in the VAFA from 1964 until 1982. That link lapsed until being revived last year with the blessing of Assumption College Kilmore principal Michael Kenny, the ACKOCA and the passionate efforts of Old Collegians Jesse Silver, Luke Giansiracusa, Nick Brooks, Kieran O’Dwyer and Matt Meier.
.
The team, based at Toorak Park, will continue to be known as Prahran Assumption and play nine games in Prahran jumpers and nine in the Assumption school jumper. For finals a coin toss will decide which strip is worn, for example last year the second semi-final was played in the Prahran jumper and the grand final in the Assumption strip.
There is a natural synergy between the two entities, as both have royal and sky blue as their dominant jumper colours. Our Round 16 home game vs Therry Penola will be played at Assumption’s Carroll Oval and the club has already played a practice match against the College’s first XVIII on Sunday March 18.
The joint venture with Assumption is a key ingredient to our club’s aspirations of rising through the VAFA grades.
We look forward to your support in 2012.
Jesse Silver, Luke Giansiracusa, Nick Brooks, Kieran O’Dwyer and Matt Meier.
