About Assumption
Assumption College is a Catholic, Co-educational Day and Boarding School in the Marist tradition. First established in 1893 as a Primary School for local area boys, the school has grown into a vibrant Secondary School catering for both boys and girls from the local area, as well as boys and girls from areas as far flung as Broome and King Island.
The Marist Brothers, who founded the school in 1893, maintain governance of the school. Assumption College is a member of the Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria and the Associated Heads of Independent Schools of Australia.
The School is overseen by a Council, comprising the Principal (Mr. Michael Kenny - pictured here), selected staff members, parents and a representative of the Marist Brothers.
Assumption College is situated in the town of Kilmore. Kilmore, with a population of approximately 4000, is situated approximately 65kms north of the CBD of Melbourne. Day students come from within a 50km radius of Kilmore. Buses convey students from northern Melbourne suburbs, from Seymour to our north, from Kinglake to our east and Riddells Creek to our west. Boarders come from all around, including many parts of Northern Victoria, the Riverina and Southern New South Wales, as well as King Island (Bass Strait) and Broome in Western Australia.
The following pages of this website will give you a glimpse of the life of Assumption College and hopefully encourage you to join our community.
